yesterday i went to guang’s birthday party! special mention to the cheesecake cos everyone thought it was store bought, but it was all really due to pamelia ramsay’s expert direction (plus the extra help of the jean-phillipes aka ben chong, kwong and i). and had much fun singing at the karaoke with everyone. and i think i kinda lost my voice after yesterday though. and after that we had fun bowling/watching people bowl. then and spent time at the adjoining arcade. hmm oh yeah watching the guys play the street fighter game was really an eye opener, never knew how those things worked haha.

plus i didn’t do much all week, except for math and english. finally emailed asking for a referral letter and completed the personal statement thought, even though i had trouble with latter. cos when you watch too much antm, suddenly the way you promote yourself sounds awfully like the way the models on the show interview. not good, since it makes you sound less like the credible future undergrad that you’re supposed to be and more like…… ris low.

hmm plan for tomorrow’s that i’m gonna finish summarizing siddhartha, like key quotes and rundown and stuff. hope i can finish. plus i really need to plan the studying schedule; it’s scary to think the actual exams are coming so soon guys. i’m so not prepared. oh well, the inevitable will come whether we want it or not…

anw toodles guys time to sleep.

boom boom boomz!
bao

p.s. now that i’ve finished watching true blood s2 and band of brothers on max i have nothing to look forward to on weekends. :( i’m contemplating whether to start watching house haha. should i?

top five things i have learnt today in descending order:

5) red bull really does give you wings… but then it’s just crash and burn

4) what the fuck has happened to muse guys??! they’re going into america with their new album and turning into a disco-synth-disaster-of-blondie-proportions (not hating blondie or anything, they’re awesome in their own right, but they’re hardly alt rock!) oh well the album is awesome still, once you get past the whole blondie thing. haha. the instrumentals at the end are mmm mmm mmm! fantastic :)

3) madonna used to be sooo pretty when she was young. or at least prettier… comparatively. that’s before she became Madgenator AKA Cyborg with iron biceps filled with mercury veins

LOVE THIS PERFORMANCE:

2) lady gaga is teh shizz. period. her epic mtv vma perf last night is just too epic for words. it was like madonna’s 1990 rococo vouge performance all over again, except new and improved!!

“WHAT? taylor swift won best female video?? unacceptable! “

6qa7vt

“I’M NUMBER ONE!”

1) have you ever had the experience where something that seems not so significant from the past comes back and hits you like WOAH, in the present? in lit it’s called a chehkov’s gun haha. oh man i just had such a moment. three words: never underestimate the powers of public transport. really. it’s shocking! it’s shock value even tops the whole lady gaga perf, haha that why it’s at number 1 on the list.

up outing + teachers’ day celebs

friday

so basically kwong, ham, guang, tina, celest, cheryl, pam and i went to iluma@bugis for the up-3d movie! it was my first time watching a 3d movie and i gotta say it was pretty good! there was a remarkable difference between the normal cinematic quality of the movie and the 3-literally-d effects of the special glasses! the movie was great and tear-inducing. i loved dug! the talking golden retriever :D the only down side was that i had to wear the 3d glasses in addition to my normal ones so they kept slipping cuz my nose isn’t straight enough -_- and also the fact that the tickets are double the price of normal ones!! yikes.

then later celest and cheryl left, and we had an early dinner at this one for one japanese place. walked around bugis and ham, tina and i went shopping for teachers’ day prezzies. i met lynette wong!!!! omg i haven’t seen her in a year. she said i looked angmoh-ized. haha, i guess that’s relative to my cheena appearance in nanyang.

today

haha aces day plus teachers’ day celebs. the y5’s are really champion, wrt to the morning dance! guang said they copied the ndp pole dancers’ moves, especially the one where they look like they’re summoning spirits a la woodstock hippie dancing. hahaha damn funny. pam caught shobun and evans doing a couple dance!!! the celebs were really cute too. loved the part where the senior admin went on stage to sing mamamia, accompanied by matching pictures on ppt slides. omg the one where they sung “”the money from charity cafe…” and they flashed this picture of ft holding up $50 bills…. priceless! i think i almost slid onto the floor laughing.

then later we went to dover market to eat chicken rice. haha it was brilliant cos there were no seats anywhere and all the void decks(i.e. the chairs and tables) were occupied by sleeping hobos so we couldn’t go there. thus we were forced to eat at the park. unfortunately some bengs were faster than us so the last possible stone table at the park was snapped up, so resigned, we settled down at the fitness corner (with bugs and sand and all) to eat and chitchat. but the atmosphere was quite nice la. except for the weather because it was darn hot though, not to mention humid. hmm the chicken rice was nice. i mean i don’t really have high expectations for chicken rice – as long as the rice is fragrant and the chicken is tender (meaning it doesn’t taste super dry nor have the texture of cardboard), it’s good. then bus-ed back home with ruthi, pam and guang.

then at the busstop ruthi told me this disturbing story about traveling in thailand. apparently this couple went on holiday in thailand. so one day, they went to this shopping place, and the wife took some clothes to try on in the dressing room, while the husband waited outside the room. but after a reeeeeally long time she didn’t reappear so the husband sensed something amiss, and he opened the door to the dressing room.

BUT… she was gone. the dressing room was empty!

stricken, the husband had nothing to do but to return to singapore the next day because of the plane ticket. he returned to thailand a while later, trying to locate her. he asked around all the places that they had travelled to, including the busstops and whatnot. in the end, he asked around the place where she dissappeared, and one of the people there (shopkeeper?) told him that… the dressing room actually had a trap door underneath, meaning his wife had fallen through while changing outfits the other day and that she had been kidnapped and sold to a freak show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

at this moment in the story i was damn WTF because it didn’t make sense, like why didn’t the husband just go to the singapore embassy and report it to the police then, or like why would a freakshow want to buy a normal human being to put in their acts because that just doesn’t make sense.

then ruthi said in that matter-of-fact tone of hers, “oh, that’s because they chopped off her arms and legs and put her torso into a vase for the show”

….*stunned silence*

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. omg i am getting goosebumps just rewriting it. it feels as if this was something out of twilight zone….. that’s really sick. now i’m gonna be super paranoid when i go on vacation to thailand. :( moral of the story: don’t go into the changing rooms of shady places

anyway at macrithie i had the pleasure of waiting for 852 for 45 whole bloody minutes because the uncle of the first bus deemed me too insignificant to stop for. fucking smrt 852 buses. 6 fucking years i have been taking your fucking buses and the service is still the same-incorrigible! GRRRR

anw sorry to guang and pam who waited for me. :D shanks guys. oh yeah and we were talking about some unhappy matters wrt the ****. well, what to do. we came to the conclusion that maybe it’s for the best la. not everyone can be friends forever. not to mention friends forever with someone who can’t compromise for the sake of the others.

i reached home and i was sooooooooooooo tired. like literally to the point of collapse. but yet i still cleaned my room, dusted my bed and swept the floor and read the papers. i champion :D then i slept… for like 6 hours. then i woke up and had dinner… and then me and bj were folding paper origami. haha damn random. like during my nap i had a dream about folding origami, like i was searching the internet trying to find out how to fold pikachu origami. damn random. i think it’s cuz i keep folding paper hearts for the teachers’ day presents, so now i’m like subconsciously thinking about it too. anyway bj’s quite pro for a 14 year old guy. i mean he’s patient enough to sit there and fold paper dinosaurs with me. hehe. then my mom randomly burst in and said paper craft is like for dead people and she told us to burn some origami for gramps the next time we burn papers for him. lol but i don’t think dinosaurs are very practical in the netherworld. should burn him an ipod. then he can listen to kenny g, which was like his fave when he was alive. ahhh i wonder how he is now.

zzz k just finished my testimonial. gonna bathe now. ciao homies. haha this was SUCH a long post

end of report

yesterday i went to watch dance venia! it was pretty dumb cos in the morning i realised that i had forgotten my ticket at home so i had to go all the way back to take it. but the foa was pretty awesome :D i liked the contemp piece, the syf dance, JAIHO and the broadway piece the best. i also thought cpac’s chinese drums item was cool (whoohoo laoshi!) tried to take some pics from my lousy handphone camera but well. it is only 2 megapixels and it’s bad in dim lighting but that’s good enough for me!

DSC03227the taiwan ethnic dance-inspired piece by the y5s. during the middle of the dance, they did this clam-shell move(you know the move in hip hop music videos where some chick puts her arms behind her neck and pumps her elbows inward, much like an oyster) which made daryl yam exclaim “taiwan ethinc people got dance move liddat meh?!” LOL

DSC03230macho half-naked guys in skirts and yakuza tattoos drumming

DSC03231the syf piece! it was inspired by mongolia (not sure about that one) LOL the effect of the gold tights were slightly distracting but other than that it was awesome

DSC03233this was one of the “highlights” of the show. this amazonian dance. their faces are in shadow… hmm, perhaps a symbolic manifestation of their internal monolouges? i.e. “wtf am i doing in leopard-print skirts and knee-length flesh-coloured tights”

DSC03235on a non-dance related note: HEIGHT GRADIENT (i’m the shortest and i’m 170cm). LOOK AT DARLI! her heels were at least 7-inches tall. when i walked up to her to say hi i gave her a pat on the shoulder and she started wobbling around. btw shoban is tiptoeing (i think)

After that a bunch of us bummed around at the astro turf, then pam’s mom gave me a ride home! we talked about the astroham moment LOL that was pretty classic

prisoner fail

this picture is damn funny. haha it makes me lol everytime i see it. maybe i should start blogging like i next time; 80% picture 20% words. hmm well yesterday dad’s friend’s family came from shanghai and everyone (including grandma! oohlala) trooped over to sentosa. went on the 4D magic/extreme log ride thing, into underwater world (and touched a pufferfish… ick) and had this tepan beef set at sakae izakuya (is that how you spell it) and it sucked btw, the beef was horrible (but i still ate it because… it was beef) but the lobster soup+chicken+salmon salad combo mum and grandma had was pretty good. then today bl’s family came over for dinner and we had the usual fare PLUS xiaolongbao for post-dinner/supper. yum.

and recently i keep having nightmares of failing IB and sleep paralysis. and yesterday was the worst! i dreamt someone was choking me in my sleep! i woke up and my throat was hurting like someone really did. but then again, maybe it’s just the polar bear suffocating me in my sleep haha.

national day celebs tomorrow! ta ta mi amigos muchos gracias ay caramba!
