yesterday we celebrated with a yummy (but slightly expensive) buffet at straits cafe @ rendezvous hotel! had fun chitchatting and eating with tony, shoban, guang, ham, edsee, pam! gosh it was hilarious. first of all tony and his alfalfa, basically it’s this moss like thing that tasted like grass. pam was throwing him eye-rolls and grimaces when he was eating it like some bovine organism. and the disgusting durian creme and puff. oh god if i ever have the pleasure of eating (forced, tricked, accidentally or otherwise) anything with durian in it i swear i will use one whole bottle of listerine in one sitting. then we watched a movie called gomorrah at cathay picturehouse (it was between that and christmas carol 3D, but since pam’s 18 we chose the former m18 movie LOL). it apparently won the top prize at the cannes film festival (plus certified 91% fresh via pam’s rottentomatoes), but it turned out… as i quote the birthday girl “this movie was such a milestone for me” well. i still prefer the heavily-stylized 40s american mafia movie a la the godfather. gomorrah was too hyper-real imo. :/ anyway have fun in malacca girl!

anyway i’ve finally gotten down to listening to the fame monster. gaga is a genius. perhaps i should consider turning from a free-thinker to joining a pagan occult that worships her, LOL. i’m joking, i’m joking, don’t stone me. anyway alejandro is my favourite on the album!! best thing is, it samples czardas (the very hungarian gypsy tune we learned for guitar) at the start. and i love the intro of dance in the dark too!!
hmm i got john mayer’s new album battle studies. spent the whole morning in bed listening to it. i gotta say it’s my favourite album by him yet. the whole thing feels so raw, unpretentious, and intimate. especially love friends, lovers or nothing and the title track, heartbreak warfare. and i shall leave you with the former! the lyrics are really meaningful imo (i’m sure many of us will have felt like this at some point in time or another). the perfect album for single, lonely souls out there, heh:

i can forsee that this is gonna be what i’m feeling when i wake up 5.30pm in the morning. you know, like being in denial that school’s over and getting to class late. well but i don’t want priya and the irish guy to hate me, so, i think i should be good. and i think jack johnson has replaced john mayer as my number one guitar-totting-singer-dude. it’s like…his music is the type you can sleep to, and wake up to. as for john mayer, well, sometimes i get woken up by his wailing guitar solos (haha no offence john) when i’m sleeping with the music on, and it gives me heart attacks. :/
ahh anyway this song is too nice! it’s my ring tone now (in between that and bigbag’s ‘lies’, loll). and as to why i always post songs; it saves you the words which can be expressed much better in melody, and it shares the joy of good music! and also because sometimes i’m too lazy to make a full post and i think the lyrics make more sense (than what’s in my brain).
p.s. i need to assume a more mellow mood in regards to things. like jack johnson’s music ya know? just sleep on the problem instead of tackling it like an angry bull.

whoohoo i have now found new motivation to study! just now two angels told me that they have recovered my pencil case. yay so that means i haven’t lost my funky creative diary. seriously i think my pencil case is more important to me than my wallet. one question remains though… what were they doing snooping around in the teachers’ table drawer?! wait, the more pressing question would be, how come i left my pencil case in the class, and which person put it in the teacher’s drawer? if that was someone’s attempt to play a trick on me, i’d just like to say… well thank you. it kinda made my day (as in the recovery part).
AHH and i have found this extremely EXTREMELY close resemblence between stevie ray vaughan and john mayer. the prolonged guitar riffs, the guitar wailing, the husky growling voice, even down to the enunciation of words! mmmmm sexy stuff. anyway that shouldn’t be a big surprise, seeing that jm was inspired by srv all through his career. seriously, i can understand why so many guys don’t like john mayer that much; he is way too sexy for his own good, especially the cleft on his chin. oh my oh my oh my oh my. NO seriously, what am i saying!! yes i do admit sometimes his music gets on my nerves (especially his lives, what with all that cajoling with the females in the audience) and the “oily-ness” of his songs. okay i shall explain; if listening to jack johnson is like eating ice kachang, and stevie r. v. is like indian curry, then john mayer is like spaghetti and meatballs. it’s delicious to eat, but extremely messy and sinful. haha. meatballs, meatballs. can you tell that i’m pretty hungry right now. man when was the last time i had any pasta :(

haha, you would wonder how one person can like N.E.R.D. AND Stevie R.V. at the same time, but that’s me! :O also, the comparing-artistes-to-food thing might be insulting to some, but it’s really quite amusing. if daft punk is a fizzy lemony cocktail then N.E.R.D. would be some whisky+soda concoction. cos both their music is totally WOAH!crack and a lot of people are dissing them, like “i can’t believe anyone listens to this trash” kind of thing, which i think is rather harsh. i mean it’s quite listenable and funky even though it’s very trippy and psychedelic! and as much as it sounds strange, i actually find listening to this type of song helpful to my mugging. try it! it helps :)
my oh me oh my, do i sound drunk or what. AHH i swear it’s the coffee. i’ve drunk too much today.
haha, i learnt a new word today; butt-chin. damn, i don’t know whether the fact that people can make something so sexy sound so… so… yuck. anyway it’s called a cleft people, not ass-chin or anything like that. sigh, john mayer is just sooooo awesome that no words can describe how awesome he is (haha, redundant). but seriously though, he is extremely unphotogenic; the only pictures i could find of him off the rolling stones gallery were the ones from his album covers, because in all his live pictures he either looks constipated or too unsuitable for my blog. and the way he talks is so entertaining! he doesn’t talk like a celebrity/rock star. anyway they say a picture speaks a thousand words, i shall just let the pic on the left sit and write itself a testimony of my love for JM.
